Van driver cited in deadly Leander motorcycle crash

Leander police say a van tried to turn north onto U.S. 183 near Sheila Drive around 6:12 p.m. Monday. A motorcycle hit the left rear side of the van.

LEANDER, Texas — A driver involved in a crash that killed a motorcyclist on Monday night in Leander is facing a citation.

Leander police say a van tried to turn north onto U.S. 183 near Sheila Drive around 6:12 p.m. A motorcycle hit the left rear side of the van.

Police say the motorcyclist, 29-year-old Leander man Brendan Johnson, died on the scene. The driver of the van stayed on the scene and spoke with officers, police said.

The van's driver was cited for "failure to yield right of way turning left." Police have not released the driver's name.
