AUSTIN, Texas — A house fire caused by a lightning strike at a home in The Hollows subdivision near Lake Travis on Tuesday evening is now out.
According to Travis County ESD No. 1, crews were called to the home around 11:30 p.m. The homeowner called 911 and said lightning struck the roof and they could smell smoke.
Firefighters arriving on the scene found that the house had caught fire and escalated the response, Travis County ESD No. 1 said.
The fire extended to areas between the upstairs and downstairs floors, making it difficult for firefighters to put out.
No injuries were reported.
The incident happened as severe thunderstorms rolled through Central Texas on Tuesday evening, bringing lightning, rain and strong winds, including gusts over 60 mph.
