LLANO, Texas — Editor's note: An updated story on the ongoing school threats across Texas can be found here. The original story continues below.
Llano ISD said one person has been placed in custody after threats were made earlier this week.
In a release sent Thursday night, the district said it will increase campus security again Friday after receiving initial reports of a social media threat Wednesday.
In a media release, the district said administrators "were made aware of a school shooting threat." According to a Facebook post from Llano ISD, the threats were made on Snapchat.
District officials reported the information to the Llano ISD Police Department as soon as they learned of the threat.
After investigating further, Llano ISD does not believe the threats put the campus at risk, and classes will continue Thursday according to schedule. However, extra security will be present throughout the day.
Anyone who sees any concerning social media posts are encouraged to report this information to law enforcement.
The investigation was made possible by the Llano ISD Police Department, the Texas Rangers, the Llano Sheriff's Office, Llano PD and the Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division.
Similar threats have also been reported in recent weeks across North Texas, including at Dallas ISD.
This is a developing story. We will continue to provide more information as it becomes available.
