Lobos finds $6M worth liquid meth in traffic stop

Sgt. Thumann and K-9 partner Lobos are back at it. The liquid meth they found has a street value of approximately $6 million.

Fayette County's favorite K-9 officer, Lobos, has done it again.

Lobos and his partner Sgt. Randy Thumann initiated a traffic stop on IH-10 Tuesday afternoon around 2:27 p.m., Sheriff Keith Korenek said.

According to the press release, during the course of the investigations, Sgt. Thumann found several criminal indicators in the stories provided by the vehicle's driver and passenger. With the consent to search the vehicle, K-9 Lobos allegedly alerted Sgt. Thumann to the presence of narcotics.

At a closer inspection, the gas tank was dropped on the vehicle, and found to have a false compartment built inside it. Inside the false compartment contained approximately 132 pounds of liquid meth oil, with an estimated street value of approximately $6,000,000, police said.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle were identified as Miguel Angel Lozano, 35, and Alma Rosario Nieto Villarreal, 24. They were both charged with possession of a controlled substance and were booked into the Dan R. Beck Justice Center.

According to the press release, Alvarez's bond was set at $50,000, and Villarreal has a bond of $10,000.
