LOCKHART, Texas — If you're looking for some of the best barbecue in Texas, you might not have to look far.

The New York Times (NYT) recently revealed its annual "America's Best Restaurants" list, with a Central Texas spot making the cut.

Barbs B Q -located in Lockhart, Texas,- is a women-run restaurant serving up brisket, turkey, beef ribs and more.

The eatery posted about its achievement to Instagram, writing in part, "It is so beautiful for all of our care and hard work to be recognized. The restaurant industry is a very thorny rose...the pressure and physicality that erodes us as we dive deeper is overridden by the kindness and magical feeling when Y O U step into our doors...interested to try us out."

Open since spring 2023, Barbs B Q welcomes customers on a first come, first served basis from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday.

NYT writer Priya Krishna highlighted menu items like the brisket, which "is tender in all the right ways, with a smoky, peppery crust, but a piquant rub of Chile de árbol and Chile de guajillo brings an unexpected flash of heat."

Barbs B Q is one of only three Texas restaurants to make this year's list, including Simply South -a South Indian spot in Irving, Texas- and Viola and Agnes' Neo Soul Cafe - a Creole establishment in Seabrook, Texas.

Last year, Austin restaurant Wee's Cozy Kitchen was among the NYT's best. The counter-service spot is located in a gas station by the University of Texas at Austin.

The Central Texas barbecue restaurant was also one of this year's semifinalist nominees for the James Beard Awards, specifically in the Best New Restaurant Category.
