Lone Star Circle of Care gets $1.1 million donation

The Georgetown Health Foundation has announced an approximately $1.1 million donation to Lone Star Circle of Care.

GEORGETOWN, Texas -- The Georgetown Health Foundation has announced an approximately $1.1 million donation to Lone Star Circle of Care.

The gift includes $750,000 in cash and $368,000 to help with facilities expenses through the end of the year. This donation is in addition to an annual $524,000 donation that supports uninsured patients in Georgetown.

This follows a $1 million donation from the St. David's Foundation, which was announced last week.

Lone Star Circle of Care provides health care to more than 85,000 low-income patients in Travis, Williamson, Bell and Burnet counties. The nonprofit has laid off more than 185 employees and closed three pediatric clinics and five school clinics after ending 2013 with an operating loss of more than $95,000. The CEO's salary grew to $450,000 that same year. The CEO has since resigned, and the interim CEO took a voluntary pay cut.
