AUSTIN — The Statesman reported on Tuesday there are now more than 11,300 e-scooters and dockless bikes in the Austin metro area, according to the city.
This comes after the addition of 500 dockless scooters, added by Lyft, the latest company to dip into the market of dockless scooters in Austin, joining Uber, Lime, Bird and other companies.
Similar to other e-scooter platforms in the area, you can use one of the Lyft scooters by using the Lyft ride-hailing app, which will cost you $1 to start and 15 cents per minute, according to the Statesman.
The business seems to be working for other companies in the Austin area, so Lyft may have similar results. The Statesman said, in August, the scooters logged nearly 300-thousand trips, while dockless bikes had nearly 13-thousand.
