AUSTIN — The man accused of plotting to kill his own father is due in court Monday
Nicholas Shaughnessy is charged with "solicitation to commit murder" after his father, Ted Shaughnessy, was shot in his home in March. According to warrants Nicholas Shaughnessy told investigators he was having financial trouble and owed his mother about $30,000. She loaned him money to start a day-trading business, warrants said. He had apparently gotten into an argument with his mother about money the week of the murder.
