AUSTIN – Austin police have arrested a 24-year-old man accused of recording close to a dozen videos of women using a restroom on the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail near Austin High School.

Detectives say Ryan Alan Lamberth was 23 when he allegedly used his iPhone to record video of women from under a stall of the Johnson Creek restroom.

On Sept. 3, 2013 an alert woman using the facilities noticed an iPhone on the floor between stalls. Police say she picked up the phone and saw that it was recording. When Lamberth exited his stall next door the woman confronted him and refused to return his phone. After Lamberth fled, the woman turned the phone over to Austin police.

The investigation took more than a year because the phone had a password block on it. Officers had to send the device off to Forensics specialists so they could unlock it.

Detectives say they found video on Lamberth's phone of at least ten women who used the facility between late August and September 2013.

Police arrested Lamberth on Wednesday and charged him with improper photography, a state jail felony.

Austin police want to hear from any women who used the bathrooms on the Hike and Bike Trail near Austin High School last year because it could help identify victims while bolstering their case.
