Officials identify body found in Devil's Hollow area on Lake Travis

Police found the body of a man in the Devil's Hollow area of Lake Travis on Saturday, according to the Travis County Sheriff's Office.

LAKE TRAVIS, Texas — Police have identified the body of a man found in the Devil's Hollow area of Lake Travis on Saturday, according to the Travis County Sheriff's Office.

The man was identified as Luke Fashaw, 36, of San Antonio on Monday.

On Saturday, county officials said they received a call at 3:22 p.m. about reports of a man going underwater and never resurfacing. At 4:05 p.m., the rescue was changed to "recovery mode," police said.

TCSO said a civilian diver found the man's body at approximately 4:15 p.m. and the victim was pronounced dead at 4:20 p.m.

Witnesses reported Fashaw was swimming with friends near an anchored pontoon boat and he appeared to be swimming normally when last seen. His body was recovered in an area that was about 50 feet deep, the sheriff's office said.

The incident is under investigation. Officials said evidence currently indicates Fashaw likely died of accidental drowning. The autopsy was conducted on July 30 and the final report is pending toxicology reports.
