AUSTIN, Texas — A man is in critical condition and an estimated 40 people have been displaced after a fire at an Austin apartment complex early Thursday morning.
Fire officials said it was reported at about 2:30 a.m. at the Park Avenue Place Apartments Apartments located at 306 E. 30th Street. Approximately 40 people from 32 units were displaced.
According to the Austin Fire Department, a 50-year-old man was taken to a hospital and is in critical condition.
Firefighters battled the fire in the second floor and attic of the apartment complex but said it was knocked out at about 3 a.m. Crews are investigating the cause of the fire and Red Cross is on scene assisting.
There was approximately $300,000 worth of damage, AFD said.
