Man lets dog loose to attack another person in downtown Austin: affidavit

A witness told police this is not the first time the man has used his dog to attack other people, according to an arrest affidavit.

A man was arrested Saturday morning after being accused of letting his dog loose to attack another man in downtown Austin, according to an arrest affidavit.

Police said they were dispatched to east 7th Street and north Interstate 35 about a call regarding an active fight. According to the affidavit, officers on scene saw what appeared to be two or three large bite marks on the back of a man's thigh. The bite marks had several puncture marks and were bleeding, police said.

The man complained to police about the pain he was suffering due to dog bites, the affidavit said. A witness told police Christopher Beasley approached a fist fight that had broken out in a parking lot at 7th Street and I-35 while walking his dog.

According to court documents, the witness told police Beasley intentionally let go of the leash, and his dog bit a man three times before he grabbed the leash again.

Beasley denied knowing anything about the fight and did not explain how the dog had bitten the victim, police said.

The witness told police this is not the first time Beasley has used his dog to attack other people, according to the affidavit.
