Manor residents unimpressed by brown tap water

One resident called out the city for what she saw as a lack of communication over whether the water was safe to use.

MANOR, Texas — Some residents in Manor are not happy after experiencing brown water out of the faucet over the weekend.

Resident Kirstin Adamcik expressed her frustration in an email to council members, calling out what she saw as a lack of communication over whether the water was safe to use.

“You should be ashamed that you are not actively communicating what is going on and how long it will take to be fixed,” she said.

“I feel like we should not be treated rudely when we call to find out what is going on because the city has not done their due diligence to communicate with the citizens.”

The cause of the discoloration was due to sediments, the city said in a Facebook post on Monday morning.

“This was the result of water provided to the City of Manor and Manville WSC by EPCOR that contained sediments,” it said.

The city said it had temporarily shut off the line providing the water to flush the system and remove the sediments, adding discoloration should clear within three days.

The sediments only affect the appearance, not the water quality, according to the city. Water samples are being tested in response to requests.

But many Manor residents were not impressed by Manor’s communication over the issue.

“I called the city of Manor and Manville water but didn’t get much help from either department,” said Angela Gomez.

“Funny how there’s only regular updates on this after being a news story,” Christina Rose wrote on Facebook.

This isn’t the first time the city has come under fire for brown water. In 2016 residents experienced brown water coming out of their faucets, which the city also claimed was due to harmless sediments.

The city said residents may experience a drop in pressure while hydrant flushing is happening this week.
