AUSTIN -- McNeil High School was placed on lockdown for approximately 40 minutes Thursday afternoon, Round Rock ISD

Round Rock ISD emailed parents, guardians and staff that "we placed our school in a lockdown at 1:50 p.m. as we address a concern." The district added that all students and staff are safe.

The Williamson County Sheriff's Office was called to the scene. District officials confirmed to KVUE's Brandon Jones that the lockdown ended at 2:30 and that school activities have continued.

RRISD is still working with authorities to confirm if there was a threat. The following email was sent to parents and guardians after the lockdown was lifted:

Dear McNeil parents, guardians, and staff,

We lifted the lockdown at 2:30 p.m. and continued our instructional day. After an investigation, we were able to confirm that the school is safe and secure. Please note that we did need to adjust one of our lunch periods.

The safety and security of our school is our top priority. With that in mind, we take all threats seriously.

Please use this opportunity to remind your students to immediately contact an adult if they hear any rumors or conversations regarding possible actions that could threaten others or the school. Students must also be aware of the significant consequences they face if involved in any such activity.

Our leadership team and entire school will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety of every student at McNeil. Thank you for your attention and support of our school.
