Police detonate military device found during Williamson County home remodel

The Austin Police Department bomb squad secured the scene after detonating the device.

A military explosive device was found and detonated in Williamson County Sunday afternoon as residents were attempting to remodel their garage.

Sheriff Robert Chody reported around 3:40 p.m. that the Austin Police Department bomb squad was assisting to X-ray the device to ensure it was not still active. Police later detonated the device.

The home is located on County Road 463. Officials do not expect there to be any danger at this time.
