Motorcyclists gather for procession in honor of Leander hit-and-run victim

After one of their own was killed in a hit-and-run, dozens of motorcycle enthusiasts joined forces for a procession to honor father-of-five Danny Hankins.

LEANDER, Texas — Dozens of motorcycle riders joined together to show support for one of their own.

Danny Hankins, 34, was out driving his motorcycle along Ronald Reagan Boulevard in Leander on Sept. 22 when a pickup cut him off. Hankins crashed into the back of the truck, but the truck driver took off and left him to die.

On Sunday, a funeral was held for the husband and father of five.

Before the service, dozens of bikers took part in a procession in Northwest Austin in honor of Hankins. They are hoping whoever caused the deadly crash will come forward and do the right thing.

They have a message for other drivers as well.

"Stop, most of all. Don't take off," said KC King, who was part of the procession. "If you caused the accident, stop. Stay there. Get out and make sure that rider's safe. We have families too. We have loved ones at home. We have kids we want to go home to."

As for the hit-and-run, police have found the truck that allegedly hit Hankins but are still looking for the driver.
