The fire happened in an abandoned building on East Seventh Street between Trinity and Neches streets.

AUSTIN, Texas — A fire downtown made for a busy morning for Austin police and firefighters on Saturday.

The fire happened in an abandoned building on East Seventh Street between Trinity and Neches streets.

Just before 3 a.m. Saturday, fire crews were on the scene battling the flames. Video from the scene clearly shows the fire tearing through the roof.

Austin police were also called out to that scene to close down Trinity Street and direct traffic away from the fire.

The building involved used to be Mug Shots Bar, but it is now abandoned.

There’s no word yet on what caused the fire. However, firefighters told KVUE that people experiencing homelessness were living in the building.
