FLORENCE, Texas -- A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Wednesday at the new Department of Public Safety Tactical Training Center in Florence.
Director of Texas DPS Col. Steven McCraw cut the ribbon on the new 30,000-square-foot facility in Williamson County.
The new building will serve as the administrative and operational center for the DPS Firearms Training Unit, and as an Emergency Vehicle Operations Center.
Austin-Travis County EMS was already training at the facility Wednesday, but it will be open to any law enforcement and first responders in Central Texas.
The building houses four classrooms for training and instruction, and can accommodates up to 275 students at one time.
