Police searching for driver who fled after hitting cyclist in North Austin

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) is asking for the public’s assistance in locating the driver of a pickup truck involved in a hit-and-run in North Austin on Monday.

APD said a pickup truck hit a cyclist near the intersection of North Lamar Boulevard and West Anderson Lane around 11:09 p.m. on Oct. 14.

The driver of the truck failed to stop and render aid or call 911 and left the scene immediately after the crash, according to police.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. At this time, the victim is stable, APD said on Wednesday.

The suspect vehicle is described as a black Dodge pickup truck that is lifted or taller than the stock height.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Capital Area Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.
