A new report by the National Transportation Safety Board shows how quick and deliberate the plane attack on the Echelon Building in Northwest Austin was in February.

According to that NTSB report, pilot Joseph Stack's attack on the IRS employees of the Echelon Building 1 took 14 minutes to carry off from takeoff.

Investigators say Stack took off in his piper single-engine plane from the Georgetown Municipal Airport at 9:44 the morning of February 18.

Heading south, he climbed to 4800 feet, before turning west.

Minutes later, the plane was on a southwesterly track and an altitude of 1,000 feet.

Three minutes the later, the plane's data ends.

The NTSB explains that Stack's plane collided with the office building between the first and second floors and exploded on impact.

The left wing, portions of the fuselage and a propeller blade penetrated the building and were found on the second floor. The flaps were found in the fully retracted position.

The NTSB typically releases a final accident report. That will not happen in this case because the FBI is in charge.

The investigation is ongoing.
