1 dead in North Austin homicide, according to APD

Police said a victim was found dead on scene at an apartment complex.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) is investigating the city's 61st homicide this year after a person was found dead early Friday morning in North Austin

In a media briefing Friday, law enforcement said they arrived around 12:42 a.m. to an apartment complex on the the 8400 block of Goldfinch Ct., after receiving calls about gun shots in the area. 

Once on scene, police said they found one person dead, with no further description regarding their identity. 

Officers said a person of interest was detained near the apartment, and they will be interviewed by Homicide Detectives, along with several witnesses.

It's uncertain whether the person of interest and the victim had any previous connection as the investigation continues.
