One survives plane crash after emergency landing near Pflugerville

Medics said one person on board suffered minor injuries after the plane crash between Manor and Pflugerville.

AUSTIN, Texas — One person left the scene of a plane crash Sunday afternoon with minor injuries, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.

Medics with ATCEMS and the Manor Fire Department responded to reports of the crash near the 5500 block of Pleasanton Parkway at 3:16 p.m. There, a person reportedly suffered minor injuries. Medics said only one person was on board.

ATCEMS later reported that its assets were canceled by the Manor Fire Department and only one Pflugerville medical unit was still needed on scene.

According to Pflugerville police, the pilot did not have to be transported to the hospital and they are working with authorities.

They attempted to make an emergency landing after leaving Austin Executive Airport. The plane, a 1978 single-engine Piper Turbo-Lance, crashlanded in a residential neighborhood striking a parked car. No other injuries were reported.

Neighbors in the subdivision nearby where the plane made the emergency landing say they heard a loud noise.

“I heard this plane making a little bit of noise, it wasn’t a usual noise so ... this neighborhood is just very, very quiet ... I hope that person is okay," said Christian Briandt, who lives in the subdivision.

A spokesperson with the City of Pflugerville said there is no danger to the public.

“Obviously the landing needed to take place – the pilot felt like it was crucial to do so and that’s what was done and we’re just glad, of course, that no one’s [severely] injured,” said Terri Toledo, director of communications for the City of Pflugerville.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
