The man who injured four teens in a 2014 drunk driving crash was sentenced to 12 years in prison plus probation on Thursday.
Police said Erik Oosterbaan's blood-alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit when he hit a car carrying Madison Brandes, Julia Cavanagh, Ashley Rogans and Rachael Crawford at MoPac and Slaughter Lane.
The girls were on their way to get ice cream at the time of the crash. All four had severe injuries, and addressed the crash with Oosterbaan in the courtroom on Thursday.
"Your actions could have destroyed us. We are so lucky to be alive," Brandes said.
Oosterbaan turned down a plea deal in this case in March.
