Several days after announcing his resignation, Pflugerville Superintendent Alex Torrez has been placed on administrative leave with pay and has been replaced, according to officials.
In a special closed session meeting Monday night, the Pflugerville Independent School District's Board of Trustees decided that Deputy Superintendent Troy Galow will lead the district until an interim superintendent is named.
The Board of Trustees did not give a reason for putting Torrez on administrative leave.
"We are thankful for the hard work and continued support of our Pflugerville ISD school community and look forward to the next chapter of our district," the Board of Trustees said in a short statement.
When Torrez announced his resignation through a press release last Wednesday, he said it would be effective at the end of his contract term in September 2017.
