PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — Pflugerville residents will see an increase in their next utility bill after new water and wastewater rates went into effect earlier this month.
Those charges will be reflected in residents’ November utility bill.
The average residential customer will see an increase of about $7.50 to their water base charge and $4 to their wastewater base charge, plus a water use volume charge. The city says on average, the rate hike will end up costing residents about an extra $18 a month.
Several large projects are underway in Pflugerville, including a water plant expansion, new wastewater plant and a secondary water line to feed water into Lake Pflugerville. The city said the projects will more than double its system capacity to meet growing water needs.
This comes just a year after Pflugerville residents saw their water bills go up over $45 a month. The reason for the rate increase was due to the cost going up by $600 million on the city's four capital improvement projects to serve the growing population in Pflugerville.
Residents looking to lower their water use can register for the city’s free digital portal, WaterSmart. The system allows you to track your usage in real time, as well as compare it to similar-sized homes in your neighborhood. It can also provide residents with customized recommendations on how to save water and money.
