The man accused of setting off a string of violent explosions in the Austin area is dead; officially ending a nearly month-long investigation by state and local law enforcement to stop the random killings and serious injuries throughout the city.
As a thank you to first responders and public servants, some local restaurants have been offering free meals for all of the hard work they've done for the community.
Pinthouse Pizza is the latest business to offer their gratitude. In a Facebook post, the pizza eatery said:
"As our way of saying THANK YOU, we’re happy to offer our local first responders and public servants a FREE PERSONAL PIZZA & FREE SODA (upgrade to a PHP Beer for a $1). Please provide your badge, and we’ll be happy to take care of you. This offer is available at both brewpubs and is good for today and tomorrow. Thank you for your courage, hard work, and for keeping this great community safe. Cheers!"
Wednesday, the day the Austin explosions investigation came to a head when the suspect, Mark Conditt, killed himself with his own explosive device after being tracked by police, Iron Works BBQ treated first responders to a free barbecue lunch.
