AUSTIN, Texas — A man wanted in connection with a North Austin assault and kidnapping this month was arrested on Sunday afternoon.
Policarpio Galvan-Garcia, also known as Antonio Rivera-Lopez, was wanted for the incident that happened in the 10300 block of Golden Meadow Dr. in Austin, where authorities were called after reports of shots fired on Jan. 9.
Austin Police Department (APD) officers arrived on the scene and found several shell casings, a fired round in the front door of a residence and a doorbell that had been shot, according to the U.S. Marshals’ Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. APD's Aggravated Assault Unit was called to the scene to investigate.
On Jan. 12, APD learned from the Round Rock Police Department that Galvan-Garcia was a suspect in an aggravated kidnapping on Jan. 8, in which two women were taken at gunpoint from a local business parking lot.
On Jan. 14, members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested Galvan-Garcia after locating him in a vehicle at the intersection of Rocking Chair Drive and Little Snake Way in Georgetown. Two of three other men who were in the vehicle with Galvan-Garcia were also arrested in connection with aggravated robbery, aggravated kidnapping and engaging in organized crime. The third person was a victim who had been kidnapped, the U.S. Marshals said. He was safely recovered and treated on the scene for minor injuries.
Galvan-Garcia was booked into the Travis County Jail. According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Galvan-Garcia is an undocumented immigrant with a prior deportation from the U.S. in 2016.
