AUSTIN — Several days after the death of the Austin bomber, the Austin Police Department said more than 2,000 people have called to report suspicious packages since March 12.
Four explosions rattled Austin in the month of March. Two people died and four people were injured. On March 20, a package sent from an Austin-area FedEx exploded at a FedEx facility in Schertz, a city southeast of Austin.
Authorities told Austin residents to not open unknown packages as they searched for the suspect behind those explosions.
Austinites listened to that warning. On March 28, APD told KVUE they have responded to 2,434 suspicious package calls since March 12. Since the bomber died March 21, Austin police said they responded to 669 suspicious package calls.
