Police identify cyclist killed after being struck by vehicle on East MLK

Austin-Travis County EMS, Austin Fire Department and Austin Police Department crews responded to a reported auto vs. pedestrian crash at around 9:13 p.m.

AUSTIN, Texas — A cyclist died Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle in approximately the 1300 block of East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Friday, police identified the cyclist as 28-year-old Jessica Saathoff.

Thursday night around 9:13 p.m., Austin-Travis County EMS, Austin Fire Department and Austin Police Department crews responded to a reported auto vs. pedestrian crash with a potentially critical patient.

Medics on scene performed CPR on the cyclist, an adult woman. She was then transported to Dell Seton Medical Center with critical, life-threatening injuries.

APD told KVUE she was pronounced dead at 9:29 p.m. They also said the driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and no charges are expected against them.

A preliminary investigation showed that a 2013, white Toyota 4Runner traveling westbound when it left its lane. The cyclist traveling eastbound crossed over the double yellow lines into the path of the vehicle.
