WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas -- A Rouse High School teacher has resigned after being accused of sexually assaulting two female students, according to arrest paperwork.

Josh Riggins, 27, taught world geography and coached freshman football at Rouse.

According to an arrest affidavit, a student told police that she became close with Riggins after football season in 2013. The affidavit states she told police Riggins would try to get her to go back to the bus with him after football games, but she refused. She eventually agreed to meet him at her house during his third period break, where he assaulted her, the affidavit states. The girl told police that she and Riggins met up two more times, but the relationship ended after she graduated.

The affidavit states that the relationship began over Twitter, and that Riggins would tweet at her. Police said Riggins also reached out to another alleged sexual assault victim on Twitter.

Police said the second assault happened on Oct. 26, 2014. The affidavit states the student was babysitting for the Riggins family, and after Riggins and his wife came home and his wife went to bed, she and Riggins stayed up to watch Iron Man 3. The affidavit states the girl told police that she and Riggins were cuddling on the couch when he began to sexually assault her.

Riggins is charged with two charges of improper relationship between educator and student, a second-degree felony, and one charge of sexual assault of a child.

Riggins was placed on administrative leave on Oct. 30, 2014. He submitted his letter of resignation earlier this week, according to a spokesperson with Leander ISD.

Before working at Rouse, Riggins worked as a teacher and a baseball and wrestling coach at Wiley Middle School for the 2011-2012 school year.
