AUSTIN -- Police have arrested former University of Texas football player and current Arizona Cardinal linebacker Alex Okafor after a disturbance downtown, police said.

Police charged Okafor, 24, with evading arrest and a city ordinance violation following the disturbance near Sixth and Trinity streets around 2 a.m. Monday.

According to an arrest affidavit, Okafor was running down Sixth Street and ran directly into another man, knocking him to the ground. Police said Okafor continued to run without concern for the man he knocked over, and when officers tried to stop him, he kept running.

The affidavit states, "Instead of stopping Okafor faked left and then darted right," and eventually it took three officers to take him to the ground.

Okafor told police "he just needed to get to the Aquarium Bar."

Police said Okafor also had a warrant out for his arrest on a Class C misdemeanor charge.

Okafor played for UT under Coach Mack Brown from 2009 to 2012. Okafor attended high school in Pflugerville, and USA Today named him an All-American player in 2008 when he played for the Pflugerville Panthers.
