Price increases at Austin pools starting Oct. 1

Austin's public pools are bumping up their prices.

AUSTIN — Taking a dip in an Austin pool is now going to have you diving deeper into your wallet.

The Austin Parks and Recreation Department announced a new 2019 pool entry fee beginning Oct. 1.

For Austin residents, adult prices at all municipal pools will rise from $3 to $5, senior prices will go from $1 to $2, junior prices will jump from $2 to $3 and child prices will rise to $2.

Non-Austin resident prices will go up the most. Non-resident adults will see a $5 increase to $9, seniors will now pay $5 instead of $2, junior prices will rise from $3 to $5 and children swimming prices will rise a couple dollars to $4.

The Aquatic Master Plan approved by the Austin City Council expects to add an additional $1.1 million in revenue for the city to be used on upgrades, repairs and maintenance to existing pools.
