Robber who ate meal before robbing Jack in the Box arrested

A man allegedly ate his meal and then robbed a fast-food restaurant with all of the incident caught on surveillance video.

The man who allegedly ate his meal and then robbed a fast-food restaurant with all of the incident caught on surveillance video was arrested on Thursday.

Austin Police identified the alleged robber as Jonathan Alberto Puga.

According to police, Puga walked into the Jack in the Box on the 8700 block of East U.S. Highway 290, ordered food and sat down to eat. After finishing the food, he went into the restroom and came back out wearing a red bandana concealing part of his face.

Puga allegedly entered the kitchen area and showed the workers a knife before demanding money. The arrest affidavit for Puga said he made off with approximately $800 from the Jack in the Box.

Police said Puga was also responsible for a robbery at knife point of a Taco Bell on the 1000 block of East Anderson Lane Svrd on 6/16, four days prior to the robbery of the Jack in the Box. The robber at the Taco Bell told employees he used to work there, which helped lead police to Puga.

Unbeknownst to the robber, he was captured on surveillance video during the robbery of the Jack in the Box.

Puga was charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond was set at $40,000. He faces an additional charge of first degree aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon for the Taco Bell robbery and a has a $60,000 bond for this charge.
