Round Rock ISD to finalize boundary map changes on Thursday

The changes could impact nearly a dozen schools.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Round Rock school board is once again looking at possible boundary changes.

A number of campuses are over capacity, and as the district continues to grow, Round Rock ISD leaders are considering realigning attendance zones to solve the problem.

The changes could impact nearly a dozen schools.

Boundaries for Caraway, Elsa England and Herrington elementary schools are being redone to accommodate for a new elementary school to open for the 2021-22 school year.

Students in the Caraway zone east of U.S. 183 would be rezoned to Joyville Elementary, which is under capacity. Those students would go on to Canyon Vista Middle School and then Westwood High School.

Parents expressed concerns last month the move would decrease diversity at Caraway Elementary.

School board members are finalizing maps on Thursday night. A vote on the proposal could come next week.

The proposed maps can be found on the Round Rock ISD website.
