AUSTIN, Texas — As the new school year gets started, the Round Rock Police Department wanted to make sure that hundreds of kids in the community had a new pair of shoes before heading back to class.
On Sunday, the department partnered with multiple organizations for the third annual "Step N2 Success" event held at Kalahari Resort, providing over 800 pairs of new shoes for the community.
According to partners with the event, the number of shoes provided has doubled each year since the event began.
"We know there's a real need," Asst. Police Chief Willie Richards said. "We know that we have a high population within our community that is economically disadvantaged, and so this is one way that we can serve them while we serve our community together."
Anyone looking to get involved with the 2025 event can learn more on the Round Rock Police Foundation's website.
