3 people arrested after homicide at North Austin apartment complex

Three people have been arrested over the deadly shooting on Rutland Drive, including the alleged shooter, getaway driver and man who ordered the murder.

AUSTIN, Texas — Three people have been arrested in connection with a homicide at a North Austin apartment complex last month.

According to the Austin Police Department (APD), officers responded to calls of shots fired just after 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, in the 1700 block of Rutland Drive.

APD arrived on scene just before 8:45 p.m., where officers found Lowen Alberto Ordonez Lobo suffering from gunshot wounds outside the Villas Del Sol apartments.

Members of the Austin Fire Department, APD and Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services worked to try and save Lobo, but he died at approximately 8:49 p.m.

In an update on Tuesday, May 14, the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force said Jairo Valesquez-Lopez, 22, was identified as the getaway driver who fled the scene. He was arrested on May 9 in the 800 block of East Rundberg Lane.

Giovany Perdomo, aka “Pero,” 20, was identified as the alleged shooter and was arrested on May 13 in the 6500 block of Bluff Springs Road.

Nixon Marquez-Martinez, 32, is alleged to have ordered the murder. He was arrested on May 14 in the 2800 block of Wells Branch Parkway. Marquez-Martinez had an additional administrative warrant with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Marshals said.

All three men were booked into the Travis County Jail.

The case is being investigated as the 18th homicide of the year in Austin.
