SAN MARCOS, Texas — The San Marcos Police Department has identified a man involved in stabbing that happened at the San Marcos Sights & Sounds event Wednesday night.
Police filed a warrant Thursday for Ismael Facundo, 19, but said his whereabouts are unknown at this time. He has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Police originally said they were looking for two suspects, but have only issued a warrant for the arrest of Facundo in the case.
Police said that at around 9 p.m. Wednesday, authorities found a man near the basketball courts in City Park at 206 North CM Allen who had been stabbed in the neck while he was at the Christmas festival.
The man was taken to a hospital where he underwent emergency surgery, police said.
Police said Thursday that "the offender has been identified by both the victim and numerous witnesses."
According to Texas State University police, the two suspects are described as Hispanic men in their 20s. One of the suspects has a neck tattoo.
Although the stabbing happened at a family event, San Marcos' police chief said the public should "feel confident to attend and bring their families to the final three nights of Sights and Sounds and enjoy a safe and festive night of fun.”
“We believe there was an existing disagreement between these individuals that resulted in this incident occurring,” said Chief of Police Chase Stapp in a written statement.
Anyone with information regarding the stabbing should call "Detective Aubry at 512.753.2306."
