The youth program that one of the Austin bombing victims was a part of is honoring the 17-year-old in a tribute performance Friday night.
Draylen Mason, who police said died after a package placed on his front doorstep exploded March 12, played the electric bass guitar in the Soul Tree Collective Band from 2014 to 2016.
“Draylen was a prodigy of music, and a spirited individual for those who had the pleasure to have known him,” said Homer Hill, the Soul Tree Collective Founder. “He was well accomplished for his short stay on earth, he utilized every opportunity in order to gain knowledge, and to exhibit the fruition of that knowledge.”
The current members of the band will perform a tribute to Mason during the Urban Music Fest on March 30 through March 31 at Auditorium Shores in Austin.
Soul Tree Collective is a nonprofit youth program designed in support of the Urban Music Fest.
