AUSTIN, Texas — One person has been hospitalized after a house fire in South Austin Saturday evening.
According the Austin Fire Department (AFD), firefighters responded to a house fire in the 7200 block of Whispering Oaks Drive at around 7 p.m. Upon arrival, they determined the fire had been burning through the roof of the residence.
An adult who lived at the residence was taken to the hospital, where they are dealing with critical, life-threatening injuries due to smoke inhalation, according to Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS).
AFD said the resident will be displaced due to heavy damage to the house. Investigators have determined that the fire was accidental.
