Suspect arrested after SWAT standoff east of Dripping Springs

Deputies found multiple guns, marijuana and psilocybin in Nathan Nattin's home.

DRIPPING SPRINGS, Texas — A suspect is in custody after a SWAT standoff in Hays County Saturday afternoon.

The Hays County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) said at approximately 1:21 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a call in the 600 block of Terrace Canyon Drive, off U.S. 290, east of Dripping Springs. Several residents had called 911 about a suspicious man walking around the neighborhood, yelling obscenities.

While deputies were on their way to the area, neighbors also reported hearing gunshots and an explosion. When deputies arrived, they spoke with callers and, while on the scene, reported that they were shot at once. No one was injured.

Hays County SWAT, the Crisis Negotiations Team and the Drone Team were called in to help. The suspect was identified as Nathan Nattin, a man the HCSO said has a history of assaulting and attempting to assault law enforcement, resisting arrest, harassing a public servant and weapons-related charges.

Nattin barricaded himself inside his home with no one else inside. A search warrant for the home and an arrest warrant for Nattin were executed.

After an almost two-hour standoff, Nattin came outside and was taken into custody without further incident.

Inside Nattin's home, investigators found multiple guns and narcotics including marijuana and psilocybin. Investigators also found an apparent bullet hole in a neighboring home and evidence on the scene that supported "the belief that a bullet was fired from Nattin’s property, striking his neighbor's home."  No explosive devices were found.

Nattin has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a peace officer, a second-degree felony; possession of a controlled substance, Penalty Group 2 (>= 4 grams < 400 grams), another second-degree felony; and deadly conduct, a Class A misdemeanor, for firing a gun at a home.

Nattin was booked into the Hays County Law Enforcement Center, where he remains on a $560,000 bond.

The HCSO said the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) is assisting with this investigation. Anyone with any additional information regarding this incident is asked to call Hays County Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-324-8477 or submit a tip online at www.CallCrimeStoppers.com, by using the P3 Tips app or by emailing Det.
