A man died and a woman is in the hospital after a shooting in North Austin Wednesday evening, according to Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services.
Police identified the deceased as Majid Hemmasi, 59, in a release Thursday.
On Friday, Austin police arrested Sidney Parker, 40, for the intentional murder of Hemmasi and attempted murder of the woman. He was booked into the Travis County Jail with bonds totaling $1.5 million.
Austin Travis County Emergency Medical Services said the shooting was reported in the 6700 block of Guadalupe St. around 7:50 p.m. Wednesday evening.
Austin police said that callers reported two people injured in the parking lot of AAA Fire and Safety, which is on the corner of Guadalupe St. and Airport Blvd.
Police said Hemmasi was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A woman was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center and is expected to be okay.
Police said they believe Parker specifically targeted Hemmasi. APD added there does not appear to be a threat to the public.
The Travis County Medical Examiner's Office is expected to perform the autopsy Thursday morning.
