Austin police are investigating a shooting that happened Monday night at a north Austin business.
Police said when officers arrived at the Wagon Game Room along Wagon Trail at 10:40 p.m., they found a woman in her 40s lying on the ground with a gunshot wound.
Austin-Travis Couty Emergency Medical Services and the Austin Fire Department attempted CPR on the woman, but were unable to resuscitate her. She was pronounced dead 15 minutes later.
Officers said two men and one woman were also shot at the location. They were transported to University Medical Center-Brackenridge with non-life threatening injuries.
Police said it's unclear what role the injured woman played in the shooting incident, but her role is a part of their ongoing investigation.
The suspects, in this case, are still at large, however, police did release descriptions of them Wednesday.
- Black man, mid to late 20s, approximately 6-foot-1 and 180-190 lbs
- Black woman, late 20s to early 30s, approximately 5-foot-9, 220-240 lbs
A security camera on a neighboring business, Propellers by Nettle, captured what happened. The video shows what appears to be two men going into the building just before 10:30 p.m. About 15 seconds later, one of them comes back out and can be seen shooting before running away. Moments later, the other person comes out and runs away.
"We heard some gunshots," said Ramon Vigil, owner of Flawless Kustoms.
Vigil's body shop is about three-quarters of a mile away from Wagon Game Room.
"We had the vehicles outside and we were finishing up, you know closing everything down but then we heard some gunshots. Like I heard three pop off," Vigil described.
The surveillance video goes on to show people running out of the business, getting into their vehicles and driving off about one minute after the person with the gun ran out.
"Maybe five to ten minutes later you start hearing sirens and police coming down," Vigil said.
For Vigil, a Marine Corps veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, the violence hits too close to home.
"We go out there to try to stop this, you know, and it's really hurtful when you see that happening here, coming from where we were at. And it's just not, just not something you want to see anymore. It just needs to stop," said Vigil.
An employee of a nearby business said she was saddened by what happened, but not surprised.
“I feel so sorry for the lady," said Beth Mitchell, "I’ve always been afraid for my safety around here. I make sure that I hurry up and get in my car and go and get out of here, and I hate to say it because this use to be a nice neighborhood, way back in the day.”
Other business owners said there hasn't been a problem with crime in the area. They noted a SWAT team came to the Wagon Game Room a few months ago, but added they've never had any problems.
Police have not made any arrests but believe there is no threat to the public. The homicide unit is investigating and anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call 512-477-3588.
