Suspect surrenders in Round Rock gas station shooting

Police said the suspect in a fatal Wednesday night shooting has turned himself in to the Williamson County Jail.

Police said the suspect in a fatal Wednesday night shooting has turned himself in to the Williamson County Jail.

Round Rock police said Kendrick Tremayne Newman, 40, of Round Rock has been charged with murder in the death of John Lawrence Ammon, 43, of Round Rock. Police said they were called to the Wag-a-Bag gas station located at 1490 E. Old Settlers Boulevard around 9:25 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said Newman ran off after the shooting, but obtained a description of the suspect after interviewing multiple witnesses and reviewing store surveillance video, they obtained a suspect description. Bond has not been set as of 12 p.m. Wednesday, according to Williamson County Jail records.
