OLMOS PARK, Texas — A business associate of Brad Simpson, whose wife, Suzanne Simpson, has been missing for more than two weeks, has been arrested on a charge of tampering with evidence.
DPS said Tuesday the Texas Rangers and Olmos Park police arrested James Vallee Cotter at his home Monday. It was later revealed, in documents obtained by KENS 5, that he hid an unregistered AK-47 for Brad as law enforcement was zeroing in on him in the days after his wife's disappearance.
That gun was found in the walls of Cotter's San Antonio home Monday, when authorities executed a search warrant.
The missing mother of four was last seen Oct. 6 at her Olmos Park home on East Olmos Drive. Brad Simpson was arrested after neighbors told police he saw Brad physically restraining his wife that night and preventing her from leaving the night prior. He is not cooperating with police on the investigation, and now faces five charges, one of which amounts to a federal crime.
Several areas around the San Antonio have been searched over the last two weeks. Those include an area near the Simpsons' Olmos Park home, around their Boerne property and an east-side landfill that authorities had reason to suspect was connected to Suzanne's disappearance. None of the searches resulted in any evidence found.
