APD SWAT responds to incident in East Austin

Police said an armed and dangerous suspect was inside a residence, but the incident has since been resolved.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) SWAT team responded to an active incident Thursday morning in East Austin.

In a media briefing, APD said members of the SWAT team arrived just before 12:30 a.m. to the 4900 block of Craigwood Drive, in response to a call about a family violence situation.

Officers said there was a person with a weapon inside the residence who was considered armed and dangerous.

Two people suffered from minor injuries, but APD believes the suspect was the only individual in the home at the time of the incident.

Neighbors were alerted of the situation. The road was closed but has since reopened to the public.

There is no longer an active scene, but police said the suspect has not been located.

No additional information is available at this time.
