The Travis County Sheriff's Office has arrested a person of interest in the shooting death of a man in Del Valle.
TCSO said that Carrington Kazhean Waites was booked into the Travis County Jail at 11:55 a.m. on Thursday, August 3, and charged with tampering with evidence.
According to deputies, at 12:42 a.m. on Aug. 3 a 911 caller reported that a friend had been dropped off at a home in the 8000 block of Linden Road, bleeding and unconscious.
Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services said the man, identified as Jordan Michael Rodriguez, 20, of Bastrop, appeared to have a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at 1:20 a.m.
The investigation led detectives to several persons of interest, including Waites, who admitted to officials that he hid several evidentiary items, including a shotgun, that had been in the truck with the victim, according to TCSO.
Over the course of two years, Linden Road has been the scene of several unsolved homicide cases. The Travis County Sheriff's Office held a town hall meeting in May 2017 to address the issue, in hopes someone would come forward with information.
