Texas State's resident 'Viking Goddess' Miss Susie passes away

Miss Susie is remembered for her braids and sternness for the rules. She was a cashier at the dining hall on Texas State's campus.

SAN MARCOS, Texas — Texas State University students, alumni and staff have said goodbye to a legend.

According to the campus paper, "The University Star," Miss Susie passed away over the weekend after she was previously taken off life support and placed in hospice care. A friend of Miss Susie said she died Sunday a little before 7 a.m.

Her family is encouraging donations in her memory to the Hays County Food Bank through the sale of "Viking Goddess" T-shirts.

Students gave Miss Susie the nickname "Viking Goddess" because of her tendency to wear her hair in braids and her sternness for the rules.
