AUSTIN, Texas — One of the men involved in a crash that occurred in South Florida on Tuesday was from Texas.
According to the sheriff's office in Broward, Florida, the two pilots have been identified as 37-year-old Khadim Kebe from Texas and 51-year-old Mohamed Badenjki from North Miami, Florida.
The two were flying a single-engine Cessna plane that crashed Tuesday evening in the Everglades region of South Florida, although it is unclear which of the two was actually piloting the plane.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the plane departed an airport in Pembroke Pines, Florida, just after 6:30 p.m. and crashed about 15 minutes later. The plane was eventually found floating in the waters of the Everrglades.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board.
