'God's timing' | Family still searching for answers 3 years after Texas State student disappeared

During Friday's vigil, family members of Jason Landry said another search will be launched soon.

LULING, Texas — A Texas family is still searching for answers three years after a Texas State University student's disappearance.

Family and friends of Jason Landry came together Friday night in Luling to pray for answers.

Landry's loved ones and others connected to the case came together at the spot where his car was found after he vanished.

In December 2020, Landry was on his way home from Texas State to Missouri City, which is just outside of Houston. But his car was found crashed and abandoned about 30 miles southeast of San Marcos.

Investigators have used everything from cellphone data to dogs and drones to find evidence, but Landry still hasn't been found.

During Friday's vigil, Landry's mother said volunteers will launch another search on Saturday as the family still has hope for answers.

"We also know that it's all in God's timing," Landry's mom said. "And we have to rely on that and get comfort from knowing that God is in control and that he has Jason wherever Jason is."

Investigators said Landry seemed to have stripped out of his clothing, leaving his belongings behind. Among them were a backpack, some marijuana, a laptop, gaming equipment, a bag of toiletries, and more. Some investigators believe that Landry walked away from the car on his own and "no crime occurred." Others believe there is evidence Landry was the victim of a crime.

There's still a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in Landry's case. If you know anything, you're asked to contact the Texas Attorney General's Office.
