Three displaced by fire at N. Austin apartment complex

Three people have been displaced after crews put out a fire that began in the laundry room of a North Austin apartment complex. 

<p>According to the Austin Fire Department, the fire started at around 6 a.m. in the first floor laundry room of the complex located at 803 Tirado Street near U.S. 290 and Interstate 35.</p>

According to the Austin Fire Department, the fire started at around 6 a.m. in the first floor laundry room of the complex located at 803 Tirado Street near U.S. 290 and Interstate 35. A Google maps search indicates the complex may be called "Highland Heights."

Residents were quickly evacuated as crews put out the flames.

AFD said that although the fire was contained to the laundry room, four apartments suffered smoke damage. Red Cross is assisting the three occupants who were displaced.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
